The Israel Airports Authority expects 4 million passengers to pass through the airport this summer and warns on long lines.

The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) is readying for the summer's heavy passenger traffic load and warns travelers to prepare for extremely long lines at Ben Gurion Airport. The IAA estimates that during the summer, over four million passengers will pass through the airport, about 85,000 per day, some 1.8 million in July and over 2 million in August. In June, the airport saw an 8% increase in traffic, totaling more than 1.5 million passengers. Passenger traffic in Ben-Gurion Airport is usually at its highest on Thursday and Sunday.

The IAA recommends that passengers check-in online and avoid the long lines at the airport and apply for a biometric passport, enabling quick passage through automatic stands, without waiting in border control inspection lines.

The IAA says that ground crews have been beefed up ahead of the summer vacations season, with a 250-person security staff to provide service to passengers.

Ben Gurion Airport director general Shmuel Zakai said, "I ask passengers to begin the vacation at home; checking-in at home will save you time. Prepare a biometric card, which will enable quick passage through border control and leave you with time to spend at the Duty Free. We prepared for a loaded summer and I ask the public to have a little patience."
