Due to congestion, passengers flying before the holidays are asked to arrive at the airport four hours before flight time.

The Israel Airports Authority is preparing for the traditional mass pilgrimage by Breslov hasidim to the town of Uman, Ukraine on the eve of the Rosh Hashanah. The hasidim will pray at the grave of Rabbi Nachman.

The High Holy Days are all in October this year. From September 28 until October 2, 160 international flights will take off from Ben Gurion Airport carrying over 30,000 hasidim to Ukraine.

Ben Gurion Airport is preparing with a trained and reinforced team for the exit of thousands of worshippers before Rosh Hashanah. The procedures for registering for a flight, security checks, and passport control for the flights will take place at Terminals 1 and 3. It is important to check in advance from which terminal a flight leaves, according to the airline and the flight number.

In order to ease the flight procedures, passengers are requested to arrive at the airport four hours before the scheduled takeoff. It is recommended for passengers to perform online early check-in on either the airline's or the Ben Gurion Airport website.

Automatic gates for holders of barometric passports have been installed, and obtaining such passports is recommended. Every passenger is entitled to send one standard suitcase weighing up to 20 kilos, and a passenger can also carry standard-sized hand luggage weighing up to eight kilos.

At Terminal 3, Ben Gurion Airport has a synagogue and kosher restaurants, a variety of stores, and long-term parking for passengers, and there is a free shuttle service between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.

1.7 million passengers are slated to pass through Ben Gurion Airport during the holidays, 8% more than last year. 90,000 passengers will travel on 540 international flights on September 29. Ben Gurion Airport workers made preparations for coping with the dramatic increase in passenger traffic during the summer, and this deployment will continue until after the holidays.

The Airports Authority adds that on October 11, the day before Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), traffic at Ben Gurion Airport will come to a halt before the holiday. The last landing will be at 1:30 PM, and the last takeoff will be at 1:55 PM. Flights will be renewed after the holiday on October 12, with the first incoming flight being at 10:30 PM and the first takeoff at 11:30 PM.
