Berggruen Residential Ltd. (TASE:BRGN.B1) has denied reports in the US that Madonna has bought a $20 million penthouse in the Meier-on-Rothschild project.
The company told the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, "Reports in the US and UK media that pop singer Madonna has bought an apartment in the tower are not correct. Due to rumors, Berggruen Residential is for once breaking its usual rule about not reporting details on talks with potential buyers, and stating that the negotiations with the singer Madonna several months ago did not end in a deal."
The US site TMZ reported on Friday that Madonna was about to buy a 1,115-sq.m. two-floor penthouse in Meier-on-Rothschild with swimming pool and fitness room, overlooking the Mediterranean for $20 million. However, sources close to Madonna subsequently denied the report and insisted that the US singer has no plans to buy a home in Tel Aviv.
