The Israeli telecommunications provider is also laying fiber optic lines with an unlimited speed potential.

Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) is preparing for an extensive infrastructure upgrade, which will probably commence in early 2017 and as part of which the company will begin providing its clients with 200-300Mb bandwidths. In parallel, Bezeq will begin integrating fiber optics lines laid directly to some clients and buildings throughout Israel, based on economic considerations.

Bezeq's infrastructure upgrade parallels the upgrade undertaken by leading providers worldwide which shift to G.FAST technology, already capable of providing the client with a 1gB bandwidth using its copper lines.

Several months ago, Bezeq launched a pilot of this new technology in Modiin and is expected to expand it to Haifa, Rishon Lezion, Sderot, Tel Aviv, Ganei Tikva and Tur'an, connecting thousands of clients. So far, Bezeq invested NIS 10 million in this pilot.

Bezeq also continues examining the possibility of laying optical fibers using PTP technology, which will enable unlimited bandwidth, as a complementary solution to G.FAST technology. Bezeq has been laying its fiber optics network for about three years; it so far reaches about 1.5 million households and will connect all of Israel in the future. This network enables service operation in a relatively short time and will serve as the basis for ultra-fast internet bandwidths in the future.

"Bezeq is the world's leading company in terms of pilot volume and number of clients connected to the technology," said Bezeq VP Technology & Network Yaki Zano. "Bezeq, in line with the world's leading communications companies, acts to provide bandwidths of one hundred mega and up. Our goal is to be ready to establish the most advanced platform, in order to provide unlimited bandwidth," he added.

Bezeq VP Marketing and Innovation, Gil Rosen said, "Bandwidth is the means to achieving an advanced and unprecedented surfing experience in terms of content, including ultra-fast viewing and downloading of content, cloud-based access to files from anywhere and more. The new technology enables a fundamental change in the usage experience at home, including enabling dozens of devices to be connected to the network in parallel, in line with future digital needs. "
