BoI to issue new NIS 50 note in September

The NIS 50 banknote is green and bears the portrait of author Shaul Tchernichovsky.

The Bank of Israel will issue the new NIS 50 banknote on Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) in September. It is the first of the new series of banknotes that will be issued, with the second banknote, for NIS 200, entering circulation next year.

The Bank of Israel says that the new banknotes will enter circulation when quality control tests and businesses' preparations for handling the notes are completed.

The NIS 50 banknote is green and bears the portrait of author Shaul Tchernichovsky. The NIS 200 banknote is blue and bears the portrait of poet Natan Alterman.
