The District Labor Court today ruled that the layoffs of workers at Israel Chemicals (TASE: ICL: NYSE: ICL) would remain suspended pending another hearing at the Labor Court next week. Judge Yigal Plitman did not grant a petition by the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) for a restraining order against the layoffs. The Histadrut said that the workers would continue their two-month long strike. In a separate press release, Israel Chemicals said that management had accepted a request by the presiding judge of the Court to suspend the layoffs until the Court hearing, and that at the order of the Court, the workers and the Histadrut would have to submit to the Court over the coming week an objection to the layoffs, which they have so far refrained from doing.
