CPI up 0.4% in May

The rate of inflation over the past twelve months was 0.8%. The rise in home prices moderated.

Israel's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.4% in May, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. The May reading brings the rate of inflation over the past twelve months to 0.8%. A 0.9% rise in prices of clothing and footwear stood out in May.

The Housing Price Index rose 0.5% last month. The twelve-month rise in housing prices moderated to 4.4%.

The Housing Price Index, published separately from the CPI, represents a weighted average of process of homes sold in the period March-April 2017.
