The company provides a security platform for serverless cloud computing.

Israeli cyber security company PureSec has completed a $3 million seed round led by TLV Partners and Entree Capital.

The company, which was founded by CEO Shaked Tzin and CTO Avi Shulman purports to have the world's first security platform for protecting architecture without a server.

Serverless computing is a new cloud technology based on functions created instantly on demand that perform a sequence of actions and are then immediately erased. In conventional cloud technology, enterprises rent virtual servers from the cloud provider and invest many resources themselves in managing them, so that they can run the apps they are developing. There are also servers in serverless computing, but the technology is called serverless because the enterprises using this technology do not have to manage the server - the cloud provider does it, and runs the functions for the enterprises as a service, as PureSec explains in its announcement.

Every serverless function constitutes a miniature independent unit that does not require management, and the transition to the new technology therefore enables enterprises to develop apps faster and more flexibly. In addition, the cloud provider is paid with micro-payments only for the actual running of each function, thereby saving major direct costs.

"Together with the many advantages, new challenges are emerging, including the ability to monitor, to view what is going on during the running time, to conduct tests and remove errors, and to protect serverless apps using advanced information security means," the company explains.

PureSec asserts that because the code is run on architecture completely managed by the cloud provider, enterprises switching to it lose control of the servers and the network. The conventional cloud security platforms are therefore becoming irrelevant, which is where PureSec comes in.
