easyJet wants to begin Tel Aviv-Amsterdam flights in the winter "Yediot Ahronot" reports.

British low-cost carrier easyJet plc (LSE: EZJ) has officially asked the Israeli authorities for permission to operate flights between Tel Aviv and Amsterdam, reports "Yediot Ahronot." EasyJet did not says how many flights it wants to operate each week but it is understood that it wants to launch the route in the winter.

Senior managers from the UK low-cost carrier were in Israel in January for meetings with Israel Airport Authority officials and tourism representatives. easyJet Israel commercial manager Neil Slaven said at the time that market research conducted in Israel indicated the need for a route between Tel Aviv and Amsterdam. easyJet already operates flights to 20 destinations from Amsterdam, which it recently expanded into one of its hub bases.

easyJet’s already operates nine routes from Ben Gurion airport. The low-cost carrier will fly more than half a million passengers into and out of Israel in 2015 on 37 weekly departures to London (Gatwick), London (Luton), Manchester, Geneva, Basel, Rome, Milan, Berlin, and Paris.
