Low cost carrier easyJet plc (LSE: EZJ) has launched flights between Tel Aviv and Charles de Gaulle, Paris. Passengers on the first flight from Tel Aviv to Paris, which took off Monday evening from Ben Gurion airport, were welcomed by easyJet’s crew with champagne and Israeli and French flags.

easyJet is operating three weekly, year round flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The new operation is easyJet’s ninth route from Tel Aviv and will enable easyJet to fly more than half a million passengers a year into and out of Israel on 37 weekly departures. easyJet connects Tel Aviv to routes across Europe including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and France.

easyJet began flying to Israel in November 2009 with flights between Tel Aviv and Luton near London. Following the Open Skies agreement between Israel and the EU, and the unprecedented demand by the Israeli public for its service, easyJet expanded its operations from Israel and and has quickly one of the most popular airlines at Ben Gurion airport.

EasyJet commercial manager - Israel Neil Slaven said, “We are delighted to launch a service from Tel Aviv which will offer affordable convenient connections to the French capital for those travelling for business or leisure. We know many passengers have waited a long time for easyJet to operate this route.

He added, “The introduction of our Tel Aviv to Paris service reiterates easyJet’s commitment to Israel and our intentions to continue offering Israeli passengers the destinations they want.”
