Ehud Barak buys 5 Tel Aviv apartments

Barak will pay NIS 12 million for the apartments in the Icon Tel Aviv project.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that former prime minister and defense minister Ehud Barak has bought five apartments in the Icon Tel Aviv project on Ibn Gvirol Street in Tel Aviv. He reportedly paid up to NIS 2.5 million per apartment for a total of NIS 12-12.5 million. New City, owned by Dror Halevy and Raviv Zoller, is building the project.

Barak currently rents an apartment nearby in the G Tel Aviv tower built by Gindi Holdings Ltd. on the Hashoftim lot at the corner of Ibn Gvirol Street and Shaul Hamelekh Street. In 2010, he bought an apartment in New City's Assuta Tower project on Jabotinsky Street in Tel Aviv for NIS 8 million, where he will move when construction is completed in two and a half years.

In March 2012, Barak sold his apartment on the 31st floor of the Akirov Towers on Pinkas Street in Tel Aviv to Tedy Sagi for NIS 26 million.

Barak is reportedly seeking ways to finance the purchase of the apartment in the Assuta Tower, as well as ways to invest the proceeds from the sale of his apartment to Sagi.

New City began selling the 98 apartments in the Icon Tel Aviv project in mid-January.
