Speaking in Davos, the Egyptian president said that peace would increase stability and suppress terrorism.

Egyptian President Abdel al-Fattah el-Sisi, a guest at the World Economic Forum in Davos, said that Egypt was acting to achieve peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and the creation of a Palestinian state in the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

"Egypt's job is not merely to obtain a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Gaza. Egypt will continue to act to achieve a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians for the establishment of a Palestinians state in the 1967 borders, with the Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem," el-Sisi declared. "No one could imagine what President Sadat was thinking of when he presented his vision of peace, but the years have passed, and time has proven that his ideas had vision and were correct. I want to tell the world that if we succeed in reaching peace between Israel and Palestine, a new situation will be created in the Middle East that will increase stability and suppress terrorism."

El-Sisi also referred to his call in a speech at Al-Azhar University to change the discourse in Islam, and repeated his denunciation of the extremist way of speaking in Islam.

"The horrible image created for Islam following the terrorist acts has forced us to think that it is necessary to stop and change the religious discourse," el-Sisi said. "The leaders of Al-Azhar and religious leaders who are disturbed by the image of Islam were very interested in the speech I gave. It is unacceptable for religious discourse to be in conflict with the world. We have to change the religious discourse; it is not a matter of faith, but discourse that must be more suitable for the world, and be free of distortions. No one has a monopoly on the truth, and no one should believe that his opinions are better than other people's."
