In an interview with Channel 2, Adi Soffer Teeni saidthe social media giant was working to curb calls for violence.

Facebook Israel general manager Adi Soffer Teeni told Channel 2 the company was working hard to curb phenomena like shaming and incitement on the social network.

“Facebook has zero tolerance for violent content, inciting content, or terror-related content,” she said. Asked aboutthe company’s efficacy in combating the trends, she answered: “Facebook is very good at this, and it needs to improve in everything that it does including this.”

Soffer Teeni said curbing shaming was a complex task. “When someone commits suicide, it is an awful tragedy. Balancing on one hand freedom of expression and making a safe space for sharing on the other hand is a complicated mission. The company has formed a system built on a large, professional team of people who speak all languages and work around the clock to answer every report, complaint, or criticism from users.”

In the Channel 2 interview, Soffer Teeni also addressed the campaign by Adv. Guy Ophir to reveal her personal details part of his effort to highlight the difficulty of reaching Facebook Israel representatives. Soffer Teeni succeeded in stopping the campaign; a Tel Aviv judge imposed a gag order on the attorney’s potential disclosure.

“It is not nice when someone tries to hurt you personally,” she said.

But why is it impossible to reach you?

“I believe that if the company thought it had potential to solve this complex issue then it would have done it.”

Asked about Facebook Israel’s low tax liabilities because it is incorporated in Ireland Soffer Teeni replied: “Facebook pays taxes in each country where it operates according to the laws of that country.”
