Galeria Kaufhof, one of the country's biggest department store chains, has taken Israeli products off its shelves.

Galeria Kaufhof, one of Germany's largest department store chains, has removed Israeli products from its shelves, Channel 10 reports. The decision comes, Channel 10 says, "Following the EU's decision to mark products from settlements in the West Bank and Golan Heights."

Galeria Kaufhof has over 100 branches, 21,000 employees and annual sales of €3.1 billion. Channel 10 spoke to the manager of a main branch of Galeria Kaufhof in Munich who said, "The EU is waging a religious war against Israel, it is one big political madness."

Earlier this month, German department store chain KaDeWe removed Israeli products from its shelves that were made in the West Bank and Golan Heights but following criticism reversed its decision and apologized for its actions.

Galeria Kaufhof head of corporate communications Gerd Koslowski denies the allegations. He said, "Our company has not removed any of those products from the shelves. We import the goods via European importers who are responsible for correct declaration. We do not get involved in politics with our assortment. Our core customer's demands set the standards for the products we sell."
