Germania to begin Tel Aviv flights

Germania will fly between Tel Aviv and Hamburg and Baden-Baden from March 2015.

Another airline is en route to Israel: Germany's Germania Airline will begin flying to and from Israel from March 2015.

In the first stage, the airline will operate regular flights between Tel Aviv and Hamburg, in northern Germany, and between Tel Aviv and Baden-Baden/Karlsruhe, in southern Germany’s Black Forest, which has become one of the more popular destinations for Israeli families.

The planned frequency is two weekly flights to Hamburg, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and one weekly flight to Baden-Baden on Mondays. All flights will be on Airbus A 319 aircraft.

Tickets will cost €99per person, each way, and include a meal, refreshments, one suitcase weighing up to 25 kg, one piece of carry-on luggage weighing up to 6 kg, full length HD movies, various TV shows, music, and check-in. Reservations are available online, or through the company’s Israel reservation center.

Germania CCO Oliver Pawel said, “The beginning of the company’s operation in Israel is a planned part of the company’s development and expansion into new international markets. Israel’s aviation market has great potential.”

Germania head of Israel sales Paul Scodellaro said, “The new routes will allow Israeli businesspeople and travelers to enjoy regular, direct flights to Hamburg and to Baden-Baden. This will make it possible to easily reach northern and southern Germany from Israel, with greater accessibility than ever.”

Tal Aviation President and CEO Gideon Thaler, Germania’s Israel representative, said, “The new routes have been chosen due to ever-increasing demand from Israelis for these destinations.”
