Gideon Tadmor steps down from Delek Group roles

Tadmor, who is chairman of Delek Drilling and CEO of Avner, is leaving to pursue independent business ventures.

Delek Drilling chairman and Avner CEO Gideon Tadmor is stepping down. Tadmor notified the board of directors that he intends to leave for independent business ventures as of February 1, 2016. Delek Drilling CEO Yossi Abu will be appointed CEO of Avner as well, and Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) CEO Assi Bartfeld, will be appointed as chairman of Delek Drilling. The new appointments in the gas partnerships are joined by the appointment of Yaniv Friedman as the Deputy CEO of Avner and Delek Drilling, as recently reported.

Delek Group said in its announcement, "Gideon Tadmor has served in several senior offices in the Israeli energy sector, as a manager at Cohen Development, the CEO of Delek Energy and in his present position as the chairman of Delek Drilling and CEO of Avner. Under his management, the gas partnerships have achieved unprecedented accomplishments, the highlights of which were the discoveries of Yam Tethys, Tamar and Leviathan, which led to the gas revolution and have changed the face of the energy sector and the Israeli economy."

Delek Group controlling shareholder Yitzhak Tshuva said, "Gideon Tadmor is a pillar of the Israeli energy market and has held a central and important role in turning the dream of natural gas "made in Israel" into reality. I have the utmost esteem and respect for Gideon and I wish to personally thank him for his contribution to the establishment of the Israeli gas market and to the economy of the State of Israel."

"I have had the privilege of working together with my associates at Delek Group and Noble Energy and taking part in the establishment of an Israeli natural gas industry," Tadmor said, "I now feel that the time has come to turn to an independent path and take on new challenges with my company, Navitas Petroleum, and in other areas. The gas partnerships have a professional managerial team, which is among the best and most talented I have encountered in the Israeli market, and it will continue to confidently lead the Israeli gas industry to new summits, for the benefit of the investors and for the benefit of Israeli society as a whole".
