The Herzliya municipality is collaborating with skyTran of California.

The Herzliya municipality has announced that it is going ahead with a project with California-based skyTran to plan the construction of an overhead transport system connecting the Herzliya railway station with the city's marina.

The system was developed by NASA. It consists of elevated cars that move at up to 240 kilometers per hour, using Sky Tran Magnetic Levitation technology (ST Maglev).

A skyTran project was supposed to have got underway in Tel Aviv this year, but so far there is no sign of it on the ground. At any rate, last Wednesday the Herzliya city council approved a budget for the project, so something may happen, although the responses on the municipality's Facebook page are certainly not uniformly positive.
