IBM's 13th acquisition in Israel will help developers modernize mainframe applications for digital business.

IBM is to acquire Israeli app discovery company EZSource to help developers modernize mainframe applications for digital business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

EZSource was founded in 2003 and has offices in Modiin, Israel, the US, UK, Switzerland, Japan and Romania. The company was founded by CEO Eran Tirer, CTO Omer Caspi and chairman Reuven Agassi, the father of Shai Agassi.

EZSource has helped clients, including major financial institutions, manufacturers, global transportation companies and software vendors safely modify applications to enable their digital transformation. As clients embrace APIs, hybrid cloud and mobility, EZSource's technology can enable enhancements in application and skills utilization, allowing enterprises to fully optimize their IT infrastructure for the modern business eraIts clients include ING Life, Maybank and 7-Eleven.

"Our focused technology combined with IBM's global reach will help more clients than ever optimize the value of their enterprise systems."

IBM, which has made 13 other acquisitions of Israeli companies since 1998, said the planned purchase is expected to close in the second quarter. IBM's most recent acquisition in Israel was Trusteer in 2013 for $600 million.
