Israel Military System's new system can fire missiles with high precision up to 150 kilometers out to sea.

Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI) Fire Power Division Artillery Systems Administration has recently completed development of a new coastal defense system. The system is based on precise long-range missiles, radar and drones designed to hit sea vessels far from the coastline.

The Coast & Islands Defense System (CIDS), which is designed to protect economic waters as well as coastlines and islands, will be unveiled for the first time next week at the Singapore Airshow.

Acting head of IMI's Fire Power Division Brigadier General (res.) Eli Reiter said that the system offers a solution that includes threats from far out at sea from several kilometers to up to 150 kilometers. Threats such as enemy ships are identified by radar and drones and are analyzed by a command and control center, which can launch long-range and highly precise missiles at them.

These include the Accular missile for a range of up to 40 kilometers and the Extra with a range of up to 150 kilometers. This type of system was recently sold to an unnamed country."

Reiter said, "In recent years, there has been a growing tendency for many countries worldwide to have expanded needs for improved firepower range out to sea and this topic is gaining traction. The use of precise missiles offered by IMI allows for more accurate strikes against various types of sea vessels by dispersing a lethal shrapnel that takes them out of the game."
