Izakson has announced her resignation from the Bank Hapoalim board of directors.

Irit Izakson, currently a director at Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI), will be appointed chairperson of First International Bank of Israel (TASE: FTIN). The bank today announced that Zadik Bino, its controlling shareholder, had notified it of his intention to propose Izakson as a director, and to propose her appointment as chairperson to the First International board of directors. At the same time, Bank Hapoalim announced that Izakson would end her term on its board.

Izakson is slated to replace First International Bank chairman Rony Hizkiyahu, who recently announced his intention to leave the bank for an appointment as Ministry of Finance accountant general. Izakson, who is an associate of Bank Hapoalim controlling shareholder Shari Arison, has vast experience in the banking system. She worked for 17 years at Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI), including as a sector head in the bank's business division. In addition to being a Bank Hapoalim director, she was also chairman of Isracard, that bank's credit card company. At a certain point, Bank Hapoalim made her choose between the two positions. Faced with a difficult choice, she preferred her position as a director, while foregoing her generous salary package at Isracard.

Izakson's appointment as First International Bank chair comes one day after the appointment of Bank Hapoalim director Oded Eran as chairman of Bank Hapoalim. Eran will replace Yair Seroussi.
