The decision to freeze tax transfers is in retaliation to the Palestinian Authority joining the International Criminal Court.

Israel has respondent to the Palestinian request to join the International Criminal Court in the Hague by freezing NIS 500 million in tax payments to the Palestinian Authority. The decision was first reported by "Haaretz."

The decision to freeze the tax transfer was taken after discussions in the bureau of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu said, "It is the Palestinian Authority that has a unity government with Hamas, a terrorist organization like ISIS that commits war crimes, which should fear the International Criminal Court in the Hague. We will take steps in response to protect IDF soldiers - the most moral army in the world. This additional attempt to force dictates upon us will be thwarted in the way that we thwarted the Palestinian approach to the UN Security Council."
