Israeli diamond dealer placed under house arrest

Hanan Abramovich, suspected of fraud, has been released on NIS 1.5 million bail.

Diamond dealer Hanan Abramovich, who is suspected of a $60 million fraud, was released to house arrest today, following an agreement between Adv. Adi Carmeli, his lawyer, and the police.

Abramovich was under arrest for two weeks on suspicion of making away with diamonds he took on consignment, and of secretly holding part of the merchandise.

Under the agreement, Abramovich will remain under house arrest for the coming month, and will be banned from leaving Israel. He deposited NIS 1.5 million bail to ensure he would appear for questioning.
