Tourism Minister Yariv Levin wants to set up 2-4 casinos in the Red Sea resort, "Yediot Ahronot" reports.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will convene a meeting today with Minister of Tourism Yariv Levin and Minister of Transport Yisrael Katz and their respective director general to discuss plans to permit casinos in Eilat, "Yediot Ahronot" reports.
Levin wants to set up a large entertainment complex in the Red Sea resort to include 2-4 casinos, hotels, stores restaurants, bars and clubs but Netanyahu reportedly backs a more modest plan to open just one casino in the first phase.
Levin and Netanyahu also disagree on the issue of whether Israelis should be allowed to gamble in the casino. Levin wants entry for all while Netanyahu wants only foreign tourists to be allowed to gamble, reports "Yediot Ahronot."
