"Global Finance" magazine awards Karnit Flug an "A" rating.

"Global Finance" magazine has named Governor of the Bank of Israel Karnit Flug as one of the seven best central bank governors in the world, alongside the governors from India, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Taiwan.

The magazine rated the performance of these governors "A". President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi received only an "A-" rating, putting him on a par with the central bank governors of Chile and Colombia.

Flug was recommended for the post by her predecessor Stanley Fischer, now deputy chairman of the US Federal Reserve, but she was only appointed after a series of embarrassing failures to appoint other candidates - all men.

Under Flug's leadership, the Bank of Israel has brought its interest rate to an all-time low of 0.25%.

The "Global Finance" rating has been published since 1994 and covers the central banks of nearly 70 countries. The grades awarded range from "A" to "F" (fail).
