Israeli businessman Lev Leviev has bought a 50% stake in Zambia's Grizzly emerald mine, "Bloomberg" reports.

Israeli businessman Lev Leviev has bought 50% of the Grizzly emerald mine in Zambia's Copperbelt providnce, "Bloomberg" reports.

Kombadayedu Kapwanga, managing director Leviev’s Namibian unit, told "Bloomberg" that the company owning the mine, one of Africa's biggest mines, has been renamed Gemcanton Investments Holdings.

Spokespeople for LLD Diamonds and Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL), Leviev's two biggest businesses in Israel, were unavailable for comment when contacted by "Bloomberg."

According to Kapwanga, Leviev used his Israel-based diamond unit to purchase half of Grizzly.
