Prime Minister's Office director general Harel Locker today notified the prime minister that he wished to leave his job after serving three years in his position. The date on which his resignation will become effective was not disclosed. It is believed that Locker will return to the private sector.

Locker, who previously worked in the private sector, began his job as director general in 2011. Locker handled the cabinet's staff work on socioeconomic issues, acting as the prime minister's right hand man in dealing with government ministers and ministries, authorities' heads, foreign investors, and the business sector. Locker took action to create growth engines and develop outlying areas, and promoted general economic reforms. As director general, he was a designated arbitrator, mediator, and remover of barriers in the cabinet's work.

No replacement for Locker has yet been named.
