Six months after the committee chaired by Minister of Health Yael German published its conclusions and plans for far-reaching reforms of the health system, the Finger on the Pulse session at the 2014 Globes Israel Business Conference will examine whether the various plans have the power to strengthen and invigorate Israel’s public healthcare system and if this requires a corresponding reining in of private medicine. The session will also discuss whether the German Committee recommended courageous solutions or if it was trapped by a consensus from the beginning and which special interests acted behind the scenes, and whether the recommendations will ever be implemented.
The participants in the session, which will be held in the presence of Minister of Health Yael German, are Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center-Ichilov Hospital CEO Prof. Gabriel Barbash, Clalit Health Services CEO Eli Defes, Prof. Gabi Bin-Nun of the Faculty of Business and Management at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Prof. Jacob Glazer of the Faculty of Management at Tel Aviv University, and Assuta Medical Center Ltd. chairman Prof. Yehoshua Shemer. The moderator will be “Globes” correspondent and commentator Shay Niv.
