Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during whose term in office housing prices have shot up 70%, continues to state that he intends to deal with the housing crisis after the election, and he now says he will do so together with Moshe Kahlon, formerly of Likud who now heads the Kulanu party.
"I have no agreement with Kahlon, but I will be able to work with him as minister of finance and together we will be able to reduce the cost of living and housing prices, as we did to mobile telephony prices in the outgoing government," Netanyahu wrote on his Facebook page today.
Yesterday morning, Netanyahu promised to appoint Kahlon minister of finance if he forms the next government, and Kahlon responded that this was media spin, and recalled that two years ago Netanyahu had promised to appoint him chairman of the Israel Land Authority, a promise that, as is well known, was not kept.
On that, Netanyahu writes today, "At the time, I did not stand by my promise to appoint Kahlon chairman of the Israel Land Authority because I had insufficient Knesset seats and Bennett and his party insisted on receiving this post. I hope that you will vote for me and that this time around I will be able to keep the promise."
Netanyahu, who only yesterday boasted of the "economic achievement" that he would "deal with the price of housing", continues to claim that the press and media oppose him and that a worldwide campaign is being waged against him (despite the support he receives from the most widely distributed newspaper in the country, "Israel Today", and despite the fact that 100% of his contributors in the elections are foreign).
"The left and V-15 have huge amounts of money that flows from abroad, and all we have is this," Netanyahu wrote. "It is possible and necessary to close the gap. Let's give a decisive blow to the worldwide campaign to topple the Likud government. You do not have the privilege of sitting at home or voting for parties other than Likud. We have to close the gap between us and Buji and Tzipi.
"'Yediot Ahronot' and the other media that are arrayed against me know why they say 'Just not Bibi'. They know that as long as I am here, there will be no concessions."
