New mortgages down in April

Mortgages were granted to the tune of NIS 3.95 billion last month.

The total value of mortgages granted in April was 11.7% lower than the total for March, the Bank of Israel reported today.

In April, mortgages were granted to the tune of NIS 3.95 billion, compared with NIS 4.47 billion in March. It is important to note, however, that the Passover holiday fell in April this year, whereas last year it fell in March. In comparison with April 2013, the value of mortgages granted rose 3.1%.

57% of the total granted in April was at a variable rate of interest, and 43% was at a fixed rate.
