The women's fashion chain has opened its first store in Tel Aviv's Azrieli Mall and plans two more stores in 2016.

The Spanish fashion chain Stradivarius has opened its first store in Israel. Stradivarius is the 'little sister' of Inditex' Zara (the group also includes the brands Pull&Bear, Bershka and Massimo Dutti). The first, 320 square meter Stradivarius store was opened in Tel Aviv's Azrieli Mall last Friday. Later in 2016, two further stores will be opened, in Ashdod's C-Mall and the Grand Canyon Mall in Beersheva. Stradivarius was founded in 1994 and has about 1,000 stores in 62 countries.

The chain's main clientele is young women, with relatively affordable clothing and accessories. The company promises that prices paid by Israeli customers will be similar to prices in Europe. For example, price ranges in Israel will be NIS 60-180 for bags, NIS 26-76 for wallets, NIS 100-180 for dresses, jeans starting at NIS 110-160 and button-up shirts starting at NIS 60-140.

However, these promises do not always match the reality: Stradivarius' international website already contains updated prices in NIS for displayed items (however, and unlike other countries, there are no online sales). "Globes" found that the prices in Israel are higher than prices in other countries. For example, compared with prices in France or Italy, a dress costing € 30 (NIS 128) on the websites of these countries will cost NIS 160 in Israel, a dress or jeans costing €20 (NIS 85) in France/Italy will cost the Israeli client NIS 120. A bag priced at NIS 80 in France/Italy is priced NIS 110 in Israel and a coat costing NIS 170 in Europe will cost the Israeli client NIS 200, and more.
