No trains will pass through the Tel Aviv University and Herzliya stations from 7pm December 21 to 5 am December 25.

Another railway station closure in central Israel: Today, Israel Railways announced that it is continuing with infrastructure works to connect the rapid rail link from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to the Hasharon railway. As part of this, works will be conducted to divert the line between Tel Aviv and Herzliya and laying junction points for the double tracks near tTel Aviv Savidor-Central station.

As a result, between 7 pm Wednesday December 21 and 5 am Sunday December 25, Tel Aviv University and Herzliya stations will be closed.

This means that:

Trains coming from the north will operate only to Beit Yehoshua station.

Trains coming from the south will operate only to Tel Aviv Savidor-Central.

Trains from Jerusalem and Beersheva (via Ashkelon and Rishon Lezion) will operate only to Tel Aviv Hagana station.

During the morning and afternoon peak hours on Thursday December 22, passenger trains will operate in both directions between the Hod Hasharon-Kfar Saba-Rosh Haayin-Petah Tikva stations and Bnei Brak. The trains will not reach Tel Aviv. At other times, the stations will remain closed.

Israel Railways says that the new rail line plays a significant role in the Israel Railways development plan and is expected to service hundreds of thousands of new passengers daily, take tens of thousands of car off the road, ease traffic congestion and improve air quality. The new line and laying the double track junction will immediately improve operating flexibility in passenger trains between Herzliya and Tel Aviv.

Infrastructure works will be carried out on or near existing tracks, and include dismantling and reassembling them. Therefore, no trains could operate in this line during works and trains will stop north and south of the work area.
