There are now three lanes in each direction between the Netanya and Havazelet interchanges.

Good news for all who regularly sit in traffic on the Coastal Highway (Road 2 between Tel Aviv and Haifa): a third lane from the Netanya interchange to the Havazelet interchange has opened, in both directions. An average of 100,000 vehicles travel every day on this stretch of road, which has now been upgraded to three lanes.

The opening of the third lane will reduce congestion significantly, and increase the safety of the road. NIS 160 million was invested in the project, which was carried out by the National Road Company (Netivei Israel). The works included improvements to the Havazelet interchange, the construction of acoustic walls on some of the stretches of the road, the construction of double guard rails, and the construction of wide, safe shoulders.

The new stretch of road is part of a comprehensive Ministry of Transport and National Road Company plan to widen the Coastal Highway in its entirety over the coming years. Drivers, be advised: night works may be expected even though the widened road has already opened, during which lanes will be closed in certain stretches intermittently between the Netanya interchange and the Havazelet interchange, in both directions.
