Tue: Teva fails to lift market

Teva rose strongly today but Osem and Strauss dragged the market down.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.36% to 1,711.92 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.29%, to 1,478.42 points and the BlueTech Index fell 0.76%, to 355.90 points. The TelBond 20 corporate bond index fell 0.17%, to 319.74 points. Turnover totaled NIS 1.22 billion.

On the foreign exchange market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel dollar representative rate up 0.292% from yesterday's rate at NIS 3.783/$, and the representative shekel-euro rate was set up 0.433% at NIS 4.152/€.

On the market, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 2.46% for the biggest rise on the Tel Aviv 25 index on the day's biggest trading turnover. Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) rose 0.28%.

Osem Investments Ltd. (controlled by Nestle SA (SWX:NESN)) (TASE: OSEM) and Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STRS) fell 3.17% and 3.16% respectively, for the biggest falls on the Tel Aviv 25 Index.

Israel Chemicals (TASE: ICL: NYSE: ICL) fell 1.94% after the socioeconomic cabinet included the Sheshinski II committee recommendations on royalties for natural resources in the Economic Arrangements bill, and Ormat Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ORA; TASE: ORMT) fell 2.43% after reporting its second quarter financials.
