169 apartments will make way for 560 apartments in Kiryat HaYovel's Stern Street.

The Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee has given final approval to two urban renewal projects in the city's Kiryat HaYovel neighborhood. Under the two plans, 169 apartments will make way for 560 apartments.

In the first plan, three buildings at 29, 31 and 33 Stern Street with 102 apartments will be replaced by three 28-floor buildings with 320 apartments. The plan also includes 300 square meters of public spaces and 250 square meters for commercial and residential space and an underground car park. Stern Street will also be widened with new parking bays, sidewalks and bicycle paths.

The second plan approved on the other side of the road is for buildings 34-43 in Stern Street, which currently house 67 apartments. These would be replaced by 240 apartments in four 11-floor buildings and one 17-floor building. The plan also includes a 200 square meter kindergarten and 299 square meters of commercial space.

Both projects are part of Jerusalem's Yuvalim-Ganim masterplan for the renewal of the Kiryat HaYovel, Ir Ganim and Kiryat Menachem neighborhoods.
