The base will make way for thousand of new homes in high demand new neighborhoods of Rishon Lezion.

Through IDF engineering, construction, and logistics agencies, the Ministry of Defense has completed the historic vacating of the IDF training complex in the Tzrifin military camp. For the first time, decades after it was established, the Ministry of Defense delivered 413 dunam (103.25 acres) of the land on which the complex is located to the Israel Land Authority. Construction of a new neighborhood with thousands of housing units will begin on the vacated site, located in one of the most high-demand areas of Rishon Lezion, in the coming months.

The training complex, is the first of six sites to be vacated by the IDF and the Ministry of Defense, until the entire base is vacated in three years. The site, first built during the British Mandate, has housed the main IDF training bases since the state of Israel was declared in 1948. Facilities there included a logistics school, a medical corps training base, and an auxiliary training base.
