Participation in the labor force rose from 60.2% in March to 60.9% in April.

The Central Bureau of Statistics today published figures showing that the unemployment rate in Israel fell from 5.2% in March to a historic low of 4.9% in April.

187,000 unemployed were registered in April, while the rate of participation in the labor force rose from 60.2% in March to 60.9% in April.

The figures how that the number of employed totaled 3,636,000 in April, up 1.3%, compared with March. The number of full-time employees (working 35 or more hours a week) rose by 26,000 (0.9%), and the number of part-time employees rose by 5,000 (0.7%).

The ratio of full-time employees to total employees rose from 77.7% to 77.8%. Among men, this proportion dipped from 87.2% to 86.8%, while the proportion among women rose from 67.1% to 67.9%.
