Wed: Migdal boosts Tel Aviv 25 Index to new record

Migdal rose 6.6% on a day when Israel Chemicals was one of only two Tel Aviv 25 Index shares to fall.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose sharply today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 1.62% to 1,470.36 points, a new record, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 1.52% to 1,304.02 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 0.98% to 309.69 points. Turnover was NIS 1.42 billion.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.871/$, up 0.207% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.819/€, up 0.312%.

In the bond market, both long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds and long term Galil CPI-linked government bonds rose. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.30%.

In the stock market, only two shares traded on the Tel Aviv 25 Index fell. NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) was down 0.27% and Israel Chemicals Ltd. (NYSE: ICL; TASE: ICL) was down 0.41%.

Migdal Insurance and Financial Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MGDL) led the rises jumping 6.6%. Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) rose 3.76% and its energy exploration units clawed back yesterday's big losses and some more with Avner Oil and Gas LP (TASE: AVNR.L) rising 4.89% and Delek Drilling Limited Partnership (TASE: DEDR.L) up 3.76%.

Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STRS) rose 3.66% after reporting a rise in revenue and profit in the third quarter while fellow food company Osem Investments Ltd. (controlled by Nestl? SA (SWX:NESN)) (TASE: OSEM) rose 3.74%.

It was also a good day for Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI), which rose 2.96% and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 0.96% on the day's largest trading turnover.
