During the meeting called for this afternoon nearly 10,000 passengers are due to arrive and depart.

Disruptions to flights are expected at Ben Gurion Airport this afternoon because of a meeting of Israel Airports Authority workers due to take place between 14:00 and 17:00 to discuss "the shortage of manpower and excessive employment of contract workers."

The workers committee say that an effort will be made to keep inconvenience to passengers to a minimum, but it looks as though anyone travelling today will need to keep updated about flight times, as disruptions appear unavoidable. The announcement of the meeting comes a day after the Israel Airports Authority announced that, in anticipation of the summer vacation season, 500 workers had been recruited to cope with the workload.

The Israel Airports Authority says that during the workers' meeting 34 flights are due to land at Ben Gurion Airport carrying nearly 5,000 passengers and 28 flights are due to take off carrying about 4,900 passengers, so that nearly 10,000 people will suffer disruption to their journeys.
