Israel will set up a pavilion where Israeli companies will display their activities in remote learning and online governance.
Israel is again participating in international economic conferences held in Arab countries. On November 16-18, Israel will participate in the UN International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Tunis. UN secretary general Kofi Annan is sponsoring the summit.
15,000 delegates from 180 countries are expected to attend WSIS Tunis. The delegates will represent governments, the private sector, and academe. Minister of Foreign Affairs Silvan Shalom and Minister of Communications Dalia Itzik will represent Israel. A large delegation from the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute, Manufacturers Association of Israel, and communications and high-tech companies will also participate.

This is the first time that Israel is participating in a large international summit in an Arab country since the outbreak of the intifada in September 2000. Until now, Israel has only attended a World Economic Forum meetings in Jordan, but did not participate in the public conference where Israeli companies could openly display their products.
