Kobi Alexander good for Namibian tourism

Issta: Namibia offers national parks, and the mountainous Namib Desert cut by rivers.

“The Kobi Alexander affair has aroused Israelis’ interest in visiting Namibia,”says ISSTA Lines (TASE: ISTA), which has quickly organized tour packages to that country. The $1,490 package includes the flight and six nights at a four-star hotel. A Namibian visa costs an additional $65.

The trip involves an El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) flight to Johannesburg and an hour-long follow-on South African Airways flight to the Namibian capital of Windhoek.

Namibia was a German colony until World War One, when it was occupied by South Africa, with the result that the country is clean and orderly. Issta says Namibia offers national parks filled with wild animals within 500 km. of the capital. The country’s vistas include the coastal Namib Desert, one of the world’s driest places with huge sand dunes, mountains, and cut by rivers. The coastal town of Luderitz has ostriches, seals and penguins. 100,000 seals live in the Cape Cross National Park.
