The line would run from Haifa through Kiryat Ata, Kiryat Bialik, Bir el-Makhsur, Mashhad, Upper Nazareth to Nazareth
Minister of Transport Shaul Mofaz has instructed Israel Railways to speed up planning of the Haifa-Nazareth railway line, under the BOT (build, operate, transfer) method. The project will cost NIS 1 billion, and is not included in Israel Railways’ development budget.
The Haifa-Nazareth railway line would run from Haifa Bay through Kiryat Ata, Kiryat Bialik, Bir el-Makhsur, Mashhad, Upper Nazareth to Nazareth. The line will serve 250,000 people.
Mofaz said that a high-speed railway line was very important for linking Arab communities with large cities in the north.
