Greylock, Israel Cleantech to invest in early-stage cleantech

The venture will focus on clean energy, water technologies and others.

Greylock Partners and Israel Cleantech Ventures are to set up a joint platform for investment in cleantech industries. The new venture, called CleanStart, will focus on investment in early-stage start-ups or know how and ideas developed within the Israeli academia. The joint investments will cover fields such as clean energy, water technologies, and the improvement of energy efficiency in industry.

Israel Cleantech is Israel's first designated cleantech investment fund. It invests in Israeli companies, or ones with an Israeli connection, engaged in the development of a broad range of technologies for clean energy, electricity conservation, water recycling and desalination and green agriculture. Israel Cleantech has so invested in lighting solutions company Metrolight Ltd., and it is due to make three further investments in the coming weeks. The fund is managed by Jack Levy, Meir Ukeles, and former Jerusalem Venture Partners partner Glen Schwaber.
