Amdocs signs deal with Vodafone unit

Amdocs' technology will support 2G and 3G mobile services.

Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX) has won a contract with Vodafone Group Plc (NYSE: VOD; LSE: VOD) unit Vodafone Portugal to supply it with the Amdocs Operations Support Systems (OSS) to streamline its network resource and capacity management. The companies did not disclose the value of the deal.

Amdocs' solution will support will support Vodafone Portugal's 2G and 3G generation mobile networks and its new broadband DSL fixed line service. Vodafone Portugal OSS engineering and support manager Ana Migueis said the company chose Amdocs "based on the strength of its proven Cramer OSS Portfolio in converged network providers."

Amdocs VP corporate communications Charles Born said, "As mobile service providers continue to offer complex new services, streamlined network and capacity management is essential to quickly and accurately deliver new services."

Amdocs' share closed unchanged at $34.79 on the NYSE yesterday, giving the company a market cap of $7.3 billion.
