Israeli start-up Kontera signs LinkedIn deal

Kontera matches contextually relevant keywords to relevant ads and information.

Israeli start-up Kontera Technologies Ltd. has signed a cooperation agreement with social networking site LinkedIn and Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT). Kontera will supply its in-text advertising solution, which provides related content and ads which appear when a user mouses-over a highlighted keyword in the question and answer category about technologies. The information will be drawn from Microsoft websites. The related content will appear on the right-hand side of the text.

Kontera CEO Yoav Shalom said, "When we founded Kontera, it was clear that advertising would be one possible application ofo our contextual analysis technology. We're proud that our technology enables collaboration with companies like these.

Kontera's technology identifies contextually relevant keywords on a webpage in real-time and automatically matches them to relevant ads and information. The rationale is that readers of specific texts may also be searching for related products. The model resembles Google's AdSense.
