Sarkozy wants in on canal project

The Red-Dead Sea Canal is one of the reasons for the participation of French companies at the binational manufacturers' conference.

"I want to be a part of the Red-Dead Sea Canal project," President of France Nicolas Sarkozy told the conference of 500 French and Israeli manufacturers in Jerusalem this morning. He added that he would try to create incentives for companies investing in the Peace Valley program.

Sarkozy said that it was necessary to combat the drying up of the Dead Sea and to promote a large number of binational economic projects that would act as a growth engine for the regional economy. He noted that Peace Valley projects involved Jordanian and Palestinian partners, as well as Israelis.

The Red-Dead Sea Canal is one of the reasons for the participation of French companies at the manufacturers' conference. Sarkozy's entourage mainly comprised businessmen from infrastructure companies.
