Brainsway gets approval for smoking cessation study

The firm's Deep TMS device is a noninvasive technique used to apply brief magnetic pulses to the brain.

Brainsway Ltd. (TASE:BRIN) said today that it has received Ministry of Health approval for a clinical trial at the Be'er Ya'akov Mental Health Center. The clinical trial will study the effectiveness of Brainsway's Deep TMS device in helping chronic lung disease patients quit smoking.

Deep TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) is a noninvasive technique used to apply brief magnetic pulses to the brain. Brainsway is testing the technology in treating various psychological and neurological conditions, such as schizophrenia, depression, and Alzheimer's disease.

The new Be'er Ya'akov study will follow 90-102 patients.

Shares in Brainsway rose 2.37% to NIS 13.41 on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) today.
