Intel top high-tech co in Israel to work for

Cisco and Comverse did not make the top 10.

Intel Israel Ltd. is the best Israeli high-tech company to work for, according to BDI-Coface 2009 Best Companies to Work For in High Tech index, published today.

Hewlett Packard Israel Ltd. was in second place, up six places from the 2008 rankings, while IBM Israel Ltd. kept it third-place ranking. Google Israel Ltd. slipped two places to fourth place, while Motorola Israel rose four places to fifth place.

SAP Israel Ltd. is in sixth place, Microsoft Israel Ltd. was in seventh place, Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) in eighth, and Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX) in ninth.

RAD Data Communications Ltd. rose ten places to tenth place this year, bypassing Cisco Systems Israel Ltd. and Comverse Technology Inc. (Pink Sheets: CMVT), neither of which made it to the top ten, after both firms fell ten spots in the rankings from last year.

Taldor Group (TASE: TALD) rose 15 places to 18th place from 33rd place last year. Cisco Systems Israel fell to 16th place, and Comverse fell to 17th place from seventh place, after firing scores of employees in four waves in less than two years. AudioCodes Ltd. (Nasdaq: AUDC; TASE: AUDC) also had a significant drop, falling to 40th place from 27th place.

BDI said that, despite layoffs, and an average pay cut of 7.5% per employee, high-tech employees were satisfied at their workplace. High-tech employees prefer to work for multinational companies rather than start-ups, and they tend to prefer companies with job stability, options that did not characterize the industry before the economic crisis.

BDI noted that, during 2008, scores of high-tech companies reduced their activity to deal with the economic crisis, by cutting thousands of jobs

BDI co-CEO Tehila Tamir-Yanai said, "There has been recovery trend in high-tech during the second half of 2009, as far as hiring is concerned. Nonetheless, salary levels have remained unchanged, and have not corrected to the levels of before the crisis. Companies that cut salaries when the crisis broke out have not yet raised salaries back to their previous levels."

Among other leading high-tech companies, NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) was ranked 12th, NDS Group Ltd. was ranked 28th, SanDisk Corporation (Nasdaq:SNDK) was ranked 33rd, and Given Imaging Ltd. (Nasdaq: GIVN; TASE: GIVN) 48th.
