Sweden's B2 launches IPTV services with BitBand VOD solutions

B2 is Sweden's second largest broadband supplier.

BitBand of Netanya, which provides Video-On-Demand (VOD) solutions for telecommunications companies' broadband IP networks, has been selected by B2 (Bredbandsbolaget) for deploying VOD services in Sweden. B2 has recently launched triple play services delivered over its high capacity network to homes in Sweden, offering telephony services, broadband Internet access, TV and VOD. No value for the deal was disclosed.

B2 is Sweden's second largest broadband supplier. Its network currently reaches 70 locations around the country. BitBand's solutions employed with B2 are BitBand Maestro content distribution and server management suite and BitBand Vision servers. BitBand said that, coupled with B2's high capacity network (up to 100 Mbps), its solutions preserved the high quality of content viewed by subscribers, resulting in greater subscriber satisfaction and increased revenues.

"Choosing BitBand as a partner for deploying VOD services in Sweden is based on the solution's scalability and reliability, which enable us to provide our subscribers with high quality entertainment packages and services," said Lars-Ake Norling, CTO, B2. "During the critical phase of integration with the other components and in our network, BitBand proved to be the optimal choice. Their close support helped us present the VOD service at the required high level of quality." B2 was recently acquired by Telenor, the largest provider of telecommunications services in Norway.
