Foreign investment in Israel $23.7b in 2006

Foreign investment last year was 2.4 times the total in 2005.

Foreign investment in Israel reached an all-time high in 2006 - $23.7 billion, 2.4 times the amount invested in 2005, the Central Bureau of Statistics reports.

Foreign direct investment totaled $13.4 billion in 2006, 2.4 times the amount in 2005. This investment includes $1.5 billion investment in real estate, including apartments.

Overseas investment by Israelis also reached an all-time high in 2006 - $28.6 billion, 1.2 times more than in 2005.

Foreign investment in Israel totaled $48.8 billion in 2003-06, while overseas investment by Israelis totaled $60.5 billion.

Israel’s foreign debt totals $169.7 billion, and foreign assets totaled $151.8 billion.
