Google Israel opens new Tel Aviv offices

There is Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, billiards, and a piano, but no smoking corner.

Google Israel today dedicated its new offices on the 26th floor of the Levinstein Building in Tel Aviv. The offices will house the company’s new R&D center, headed by Yossi Mattias, and the sales department, headed by Google Israel country manager Meir Brand.

Google VP engineering and research Alan Eustace was the guest of honor at the dedication. He praised the excellence of the company’s Israeli team.

In the rooms, the famous Google balls bounced, Segway scooters ran through the corridors, and in the hall, employees sat in beanbags, playing Sony PlayStations on a huge plasma screen. Beverage-filled refrigerators are located less than ten meters from any room. There is also a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream refrigerator, a billiards table, table football, and a piano for mood. There is no smoking corner; anyone wanting a smoke will have to go down 26 floors to outside the premises.

Mattias said that Google Israel currently has 50 employees, including 20 in Tel Aviv. He said that the company was continuing its expansion and recruitment. “Google is a fascinating place to work for people with a different perception, technologists, scientists, and entrepreneurs.”

Brand said, “The dedication of the new offices and R&D center are clear evidence of Google’s long-term commitment to Israeli users and the Israeli market in general.”
